In the garden of the Lord…

Kristin has really appreciate the chance to have a garden again, along with rabbits for the kids.  Snuppi though has also gotten the chance to have her own private flower patch which she really appreciates !  What a relief to have a place with space for the kids after a pretty tight year in Norway, space-wise…

Not alone…

We really appreciate the friends and colleagues we have…  Gary and his family are well known to us from our years in Kosovo.  Jonathan has known these guys for most of his life and here he is getting a boost from Gary…

More study…

For better or worse,  we need to get some kind of grip on Macedonian ( a slavic language ) even if we already know Albanian.  Here we are again at beginning phase with our language teacher and the big red book, where we are up to chapter five…  We are getting used to the cyrillic script and starting to recognise words in speech.  At least we hope to be able to handle everyday situations where 75% of people here are slavic macedonians…

Time in Tirana…

31 10 2010

Not so long ago, I had the chance to head down to Tirana to the theological college we are in co-operation with here.  We have had very little recent and direct involvement with Albania even though we have spent some years working with Kosovar Albanians to the north.  It seems strange to be so directly involved now in facilitating Albanians into mission now.  I remember 23 years ago at an Open Doors praying for the then communist Albania to open to Gospel.  It seemed like a lost cause at the time, when it was a dictatorship very much like North Korea.  I guess we must be part of the answer to mainly prayers over time…  Another encouragement at the Evangelical Theological College was the discovery that over half the students there now are from Kosovo.  This is the only institution offering theol. training for the nascent Kosovar evangelical church.  It is nice to be connected with that, after our time in Kosovo… The photo, by the way, is of the great Albanian hero, Gjergj Kastrioti, who successfully resisted the Ottoman invasion for a generation in the 15th century.
